36 Hours in Miami at the Palihouse Miami Beach

Although I have been coming to Miami with my family since I was a little girl (we almost moved there) to visit friends and family, I have, like with many things in my life, taken on a new appreciation for the bustling city. Don’t get me wrong, I have so much love for New York, however, there is nothing quite like the multicultural melting pot that is Miami. With a strong Latin culture – which is probably the closest to my Argentine roots in the US – to the authenticity in celebrating authentic Cuban and Latin food, the South Florida locale of beautiful weather and beaches only makes it that much more of an ideal getaway.

After a year of no travel, I planned a little getaway for myself from the confines of my Soho apartment and booked a trip to Vice City to check out the Palihouse Miami Beach and soak up the sun before enduring the chilly winter.

All About the Hotel

Nestled right off of Collins between the beach on the canal side, with gorgeous views of the Miami waterway, the Palihouse was the best choice for my weekend away, especially traveling solo. Aside from the absolutely adorable interior design, the hotel’s quaint yet tasteful attention to detail was just what I was looking for. Below are some quick facts that really captured my attention:

  • Chic toiletry items including C.O. Bigelow and Marvis Toothpaste

  • Great cocktail bar both indoors and by the beautiful palm-lined pool outside

  • Incredible attention to detail with interior design giving it a real Miami vibe

  • COVID-19 safe following necessary precautions

  • Personal driver to the beach in the hotel’s awesome buggy

  • Pet-friendly hotel with Pawlisociety, a pet program

  • Linus house bicycles free for guest use

Near the Hotel

In a PRIME location, Palihouse is just a short walk to the best spots on the beach. From Soho House to the FAENA and the Edition hotels to Lincoln Road and South Beach, Palihouse makes it easy to discover the city without the hassle of figuring out transportation.

Though the food at the acclaimed hotels is incredible, nothing and I mean NOTHING beats the authentic Latin-inspired food that you will find just a short distance from Palihouse.

Whether it is Cuban (my favorite) or Argentine, South Beach, and the Miami Beach area have some of the best steaks, Cuban sandwiches, plantains, yucca, arroz con pollo, etc., that you can imagine. So, while the fancy restaurants have delectable bites, it is the real hole-in-the-wall restaurants that will give you the flavor of the immigrant population.

Not To Miss

With the weather being just right for some sun and exploring, I made sure that I took advantage of the cloudy afternoon to see and do the things I hadn’t done in years; like visiting the Design District, absorbing the incredible Cuban culture in Little Havana, and observe what Wynwood was all about. It was the best way to get to know Miami in a different light.

Like a new Bal Harbour shopping area, the Design District has the best shops (though don’t expect to find anything affordable :-/) and is within walking distance from Wynwood where you’ll find more incredible restaurants to visit than you can’t possibly wait to try.

So, the next time you plan on taking time for a little getaway, make sure that Palihouse is on your list of places to try. It is everything you want in a home away from home with all-star service to boot.
