Get to know the long-time Catch Surf rider and Laguna Beach-native, Tyler Stanaland. The Californian, equal parts style and charm, leveraged his keen eye for aesthetics and his deep love for his hometown of SoCal to grow to careers in both Real Estate and Surfing.

From his love of fishing to the love of his life, the ocean, Tyler talks to us about his personal style, including his dream car to his favorite brand, and not to mention, music he loves… with a playlist to boot. Yeww!

Where are you from? 

Laguna Beach, California

What is something most people don’t know about you? 

My left leg is longer than my right.

Favorite city to live in / favorite to visit? 

Tavarua Island

Favorite hotel(s) in the world? 

Best hotel experience I’ve ever had was The Brando in Tahiti

Last concert you saw?  

Unfortunately because of Covid I haven’t seen a concert in a couple years. I think I last saw my buddies band Frenship.

If we hacked onto your Spotify, what would we be listening to?

It’d be a mix of a lot of things. Electronic, indie, alt, 90’s hip hop, country every now and again.

Favorite restaurant(s)?

Black Market Liquor Bar in Studio City or Roberta’s Pizza

Favorite essentials clothing brand(s):

A good Levi’s denim jacket and a pair of chucks are essentials in my wardrobe.

Otis eyewear.

Where do you go to get inspired?

The ocean. I don’t do well without it.

Favorite store?

Any (fishing) tackle store

Any tattoos. If so, care to share of what?

I have quite a few. Some are good, some could be better lol.

Person you most look up to?

Kalani Robb. Number 1 bodyboarder. Decent surfer. Incredible Dad. I’ve been fortunate to spend the better part of the last decade traveling with this guy and he’s taught me some invaluable life lessons.

Favorite watch?

I wear a Rolex date just my great-grandma gave my dad. It’s nothing fancy but it’s sentimental.

Dream car?

1975 Ford f100

Favorite shoes - casual and for a night out?

Converse, always and forever.

Favorite quote?

My great-grandma used to say, “I’d rather be lucky than smart.”

Workout(s) of choice?

If I had the choice I wouldn’t.

Something you are most excited about for the future?

I’m working on a couple things right now.
