The Line-Up with Jordan Foster – Beloved Mom, Stylist, and 1/3 of the Foster Sister Trio
In our opinion, there is a clear difference between having a lot of really expensive luxury clothes and having the gift of knowing how to perfectly pair inexpensive pieces with luxury items. To us, that is a very special and unique gift and one that our style effigy, Jordan Foster, undoubtedly has.
From growing up in Malibu to settling in the Big Apple, Jordan Foster knows good style. At one point someone on IG called her style, Coastal Grandma, which she was offended by at first thinking she was being called old. However, once she realized what it meant, it was completely spot on and she really leaned into her “Coastal Grandma-ness.” With that said, and although there is nothing about Jordan that looks or feels grandma-ish, the small things we noticed about her in her naturally chic disposition put a level of truth behind it. Whether it is always having a sweater perfectly styled atop a cute mini dress or wearing the coolest and newest kicks on the market with a throw of tasteful jewelry, Jordan has the perfect balance of edgy style and classic sophistication.
So if you are anything like us, you would die to know what this beautiful mama of 2 and favorite Insta stylist answers to our must-know questions. Luckily, Jordan was (just as I imagined) the most authentic and down-to-earth and we chatted through it all over matcha at her favorite, Interlude Cafe.
Read the full Q&A below! We love you Jordan.
P.S. don’t forget to stay tuned for our full interview with Jordan on The Pit :)
Where are you from?
We grew up in Malibu, which at the time was not at all what it is now. Just a little surf town with a country mart. It was very boring and I left as soon as I could. I went to Choate in Connecticut for high school, then to Boulder for university and eventually lived in Switzerland and London before finally settling in NYC
What is something most people don’t know about you?
Probably that I'm very very shy. Socially very uncomfortable and much harder for me to make friends.
Favorite city to live in / favorite to visit?
Definitely New York City. I love New York so much and I’d be very sad when I have to leave! I really want to go to Copenhagen. I've never been but my husband goes a lot for work I’m dying to go.
Last concert you saw?
I haven’t been to a concert in a long time, but Erin's husband, Simon, is a manager and he represents a lot of acts in Nashville, so I flew out there to go to the show of a guy called Nate Smith and it was incredible. Other than that, probably a Coldplay show like six years ago, definitely before COVID, but I'm going again in a couple of weeks!
If we hacked onto your Spotify, what would we be listening to?
Harry Styles
Favorite restaurant(s)?
I'm a big Italian and burger person… and I love Indian food too! A few of my favorite spots are Tamarind in Tribeca, Sant Ambroeus, L’Artusi, and Joseph Leonard, which I went to this week and was reminded of how delicious it is.
Favorite essentials clothing brand(s):
Favorite Daughter, of course, Uniqlo, Arket. La Ligne, Toteme, Isabel Marant, Nike
A brand we should know?
Where do you go to get inspired?
Honestly, seeing people day to day gives me a lot of inspiration, especially in New York. I will just sit on the steps by my apartment building and watch people. I felt this even more when I lived in London. I've never been more inspired by a place than when I lived there.
Favorite store?
Dover Street Market
Any tattoos. If so, care to share of what?
Let's see... How many do I have? I have 1234. Four little ones, when I was 16, or maybe I was 17 I did a trip with my school to Ireland after I graduated high school, and I thought it would be really cool to get a four-leaf clover tattooed on my ankle while I was in Ireland. And I still have it but I really should get it removed!
The most recent one I got was probably 7 years ago. It's on my inner arm and in tom's handwriting. It's my favorite one probably. I also have my lucky number on my wrist...another teenage decision. Tom and I got matching tattoos 3 months after meeting each other so that's my 4th. I probably won't get more although I always toy with the idea.
Person you most look up to?
I definitely look up to my sisters the most. Each of them for different reasons but they are my biggest supporters and they push me to do things I'm scared of or don't have the confidence to do. They are my first calls for things good or bad and are the people i go to for advice. There is something about a sibling that is so special and we are really lucky that there is zero competition amongst the 3 of us. Our shared experiences from our childhood have created a bond that for me, no friend could match. We fight of course but there is zero jealousy and we are all so supportive of one another.
Rolex Mens Datejust
Favorite watch?
Tom bought me my first (and only) Rolex for my 30th bday. It’s a mens style so it’s chunky and has a navy face and is engraved on the back. It’s one of the most special things I own and it will definitely belong to one of my kids in the future.
Dream car?
Dream car….literally I’d take ANY car 🤣. I haven’t owned a car since college and I miss it very much.
Favorite shoes - casual and for a night out?
Currently (which will change by next week I’m sure) are my Emme Parsons flats. They’re literally the perfect sandal. FD just did a collaboration with Larroude that’s launching soon and those heels have been my absolute favorite lately. Low heel, comfy, simple and classic.

Favorite quote?

Workout(s) of choice?
I don't really work out which I’m not proud to admit but if I do it's a pilates class at Forma or a soul cycle class. I also love walks along the Hudson in NYC wearing my leg weights!
Something you are most excited about for the future?
I feel like I've been doing a lot of new stuff for myself in the last year. I've been doing Favorite Daughter and I think that the opportunities for us are just endless. I'm so excited about a lot of things that we have coming out over the next few years and the plans that we have. I'm also very excited to watch my kids evolve and become people. I can't wait for Otto to start kindergarten in another year and really start to become a person because I think he’s so special. And then Juni is coming into her own and I'm going to figure out what she's like.
Plus all this new stuff I've been doing, you know, more stuff on social media and trying to give some advice and styling inspiration online. I think there are so many opportunities there too and I'm just sort of beginning to explore all of that. And it's exciting!
